# invalid_request

> HTTP 400 — the request body or query failed validation.

The request was well-formed HTTP but its content did not pass validation:
a required field is missing, a value has the wrong type or format (for
example a phone number that is not E.164), or a query parameter is invalid.

When validation fails, the response includes a `details` array with one entry
per failing field, for example:

  { "path": "phone", "message": "Phone number must be in E.164 format" }
]
```

**Not retryable.** Correct the request and send it again.
